Bergwall’s Automotive Courses incorporate a multi-sensory approach to creating instructional media for you and your students. The effectiveness of Bergwall’s curriculum-based instructional media can be assessed in several ways.  It is commonly understood that of all the means of communication, lecturing is the least effective.  It has been said that students often retain less than 10% of what they hear. If you add visuals to the lecture, the retention percentage goes up because your student’s use of multiple senses is incorporated into the learning process. Safety in Your Shop

All required materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and safety provisions are all detailed within each Video Clip.  In addition, there is an Auto Shop Safety Course incorporating the mandated OSHA requirements in a practical and meaningful approach.  This Course is designed to assure that users are exposed to all safety procedures necessary to work safely in the Auto Shop.  This is an important point. In fact, our Courses have been used as a defense in litigation proving that an injured student was given complete information regarding safe practices and that his injury was a result of own negligence. This cannot be over emphasized enough.  All of our Courses fully comply with OSHA safety requirements.

Shop Tasks and Activities

When you give your students access to Bergwall’s instructional media, as a support to your educational efforts, Hands-On instruction is achieved when your students first view a specific Video Clip detailing or demonstrating a specific shop skill or a repair procedure.   After your students have reviewed the Video Clip, they will have seen the proper use of tools and should be comfortable with and understand the shop procedure. Next, your students can confidently go into your shop and replicate what they viewed in the Video Clip.  If your students have a question or have forgotten a step they can easily go back and replay the video clip until they feel that they’ve mastered the activity or procedure.  In addition, no matter how many times your students need to review the same information, they will never be made to feel awkward or embarrassed –your students can review the same material as many times as necessary.  Also, because some individuals are too shy or hesitant to raise their hand in the classroom or shop and ask for extra help, Bergwall’s Video Clips can be a welcomed resource.

The feedback provided by the Online Administrative GradeBook, in terms of Courses activated/completed and tracking of ALL Test scores, are available to you 24/7.  This feedback is designed to provide you with a more detailed insight into your students’ understanding of the tasks. This feedback includes the Pre- and Post test scores and the online records identifying the topics that each of your student started and completed. This student profile of accumulated data clearly identifies each of your student’s strengths and where your student needs additional help.  At this point, you have a more detailed insight into your students that would traditionally take a great deal more time to develop. Bergwall Supports Your Efforts and Saves You Time

The Automotive Courses progress sequentially through your curriculum. Each Online Course begins with an assessment of your students existing knowledge through Pre-Tests.  The Pre-Test score establishes a baseline of each students existing knowledge. Also included with each Online ASE Course you get a Trial ASE Test with Explanations section featuring an in-depth analysis of each question’s possible responses.  Not only is the correct response given and explained in detail, but each incorrect response is also fully detailed explaining why they are not correct.  The Explanations are designed to help your students understand the logic behind the correct as well as incorrect responses. Utilizing Text, Graphics, Photographs and high-quality Streaming Video Clips, your students will be introduced and familiarized with new areas of shop skills and procedures.   This is where the significant learning will takes place.  Accompanying Graphics are designed to help to clarify any ambiguities. Of course, each Course includes 20 to 40 minutes of high quality Video Clips that detail various shop skills, procedures or theory recognizing the importance of OSHA practices.  Specifically, all Video Clips included with the ASE Courses detail various Tasks from the ASE Task List. A Glossary defining the use of any new or relevant terms and acronyms is also provided. Finally, we measure the learning activity through Post-Tests resulting in a successful educational outcome.
